Work At Our Camps

The Greater St. Louis Area Council is looking for dedicated and passionate individuals to serve on 2020 summer camp staff who can help provide a fun, positive experience for campers. Camp Staff also have the opportunity to earn a college scholarship* worth up to $1,250.

If you are looking for a rewarding summer job, camp is the place for you. We employ around 300 staff for the summer, positions include directors, lifeguards, program counselors, provisional leaders, food service, administrative staff, and others. Benefits include:

  • Salaries range from $220-$350 a week, paid weekly.
  • Camp Staff Scholarship for staff in college or similar continued education.
  • Free room and board for the duration of your time on staff.
  • Rewarding work in a fun, educational environment.
  • Gain experience and training while building valuable job skills.

*The camp staff scholarship is available for current staff members only. A camp staff member must complete the entire summer the year that the scholarship is requested.

Thursday, January 2:

  • Cohen (Belleville) Service Center: 2:00 – 8:00 PM
  • Central Illinois (Decatur) Service Center: 2:00 – 8:00 PM

 

Friday, January 3:

  • Beaumont Scout Reservation: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Cohen (Belleville) Service Center: 2:00 – 5:00 PM
  • Central Illinois (Decatur) Service Center: 2:00 – 5:00 PM

 

Saturday, January 4:

  • Beaumont Scout Reservation: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Ritter (Cape Girardeau) Service Center: 1:00 – 7:00 PM

*New in 2020, due to the amount of interviewees at the Beaumont Open Interview Dates, you can reserve an interview time slot, in advance, if you would like.*

Counselor-In-Training Staff

2020 Counselor-in-Training Application

The Counselor In Training (CIT) Program allows Scouts that are 14 or 15 years old to participate for up to three weeks as a volunteer camp staff member. Participants will get the opportunity to work in several program areas, giving them the experience to decide if working as a full-time camp staff member in the future is something they would enjoy. The program is conducted at S bar F Scout Ranch, Camp Joy, Rhodes France Scout Reservation, Camp Warren Levis, and Camp May. Lodging and meals will be provided. CIT applicants may attend any of the staff interview dates.If you cannot attend one of the interview dates, please call our camping department at 314-361-0600 to setup a separate interview date.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Staff

Youth Staff | 2020 NYLT Youth Staff Application
NYLT staff is a terrific opportunity for graduates of the NYLT program to master their leadership skills while having a ton of fun and building bonds with other Scouts on staff. Scouts on NYLT Staff are responsible for running the program at their respective week. The only requirement is to have successfully completed an NYLT course.

Staff members work at least one week of NYLT and will be required to be there for the full duration.

Adult Staff | NYLT Adult Staff Application
Adult staff members are anyone age 18 or older during Boy Scout NYLT and 21 or older during Venturing NYLT. Adult applicants do not need to attend during interview dates. *NYLT staff is an unpaid position and does not qualify for the council’s college scholarship program.

Every Scout applying for staff, whether new or returning, must fill out an application and also complete an interview during one of the times listed above.
